The cooperative, “La Terra e Il Cielo”, was born on May 5, 1980 by a group of young, ambitious people with strong ideological motivations. (See Purpose and Professional Ethic).
Thanks to the far-sightedness of some managers of the public institute (IRAB), the Coop was able to obtain tree agricultural loans with 32 hectares of land on the sweet, rolling hills of Italy’s Marches Region close to the Adriatic Sea.
In the first nine years, Biodynamic Agriculture was the principle method chosen by the cooperative which made it the first productive structure in Italy to obtain the Biodynamic trademark for its pasta.
La Terra e il Cielo”, Earth and Sky. The name magically came up for the first time during a meeting between the founding members, even before the cooperative’s constitution was drawn up. It fascinated us from the very beginning for the succinctness in which it expressed our aims and feelings. This was the name we were looking for.
The logo was immediately created to represent the significance of the name.
Within the circle are two semi-arches. The top one represents the sky while the bottom one represents the earth. The key to bringing them both together is man, which is composed of both the Earth and Sky, or in other words, matter and spirit. And which man could best represent all of humanity other than Leonardo da Vinci, the universal genius of the Italian Renaissance?
For the pasta making, the Cooperative makes use of three pasta factories in order to offer a gamma of pasta types and shapes. The principle one is closely integrated with the Cooperative in a collaboration to obtain the highest quality.
